The Negev Forum, scheduled to convene in Morocco, will be postponed after the summer due to "political" constraints. This was announced earlier today (Friday) by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
This is a forum of the countries that are parties to the Abraham Accords, which first convened in Israel in the Negev during the term of the Bennett-Lapid government and was supposed to convene for the second time in Morocco.
The Moroccan foreign minister said in a statement that "the summit held with the participation of the countries that are members of the Abraham Accords will be postponed until after the summer."
This is another postponement since the conference was initially scheduled to take place in March. Now, in light of the events of the past week, including the response of the hilltop youth to the Ali attack and the immigration to the ground of a number of unauthorized settlement points in the area, this may be a response by Morocco and the other countries that are supposed to convene together with Israel.
However, relations between Israel and Morocco have warmed significantly in recent months. This week, Minister Ofir Akunis returned after signing a series of agreements, as did Health Minister Moshe Arbel, who also returned with cooperation agreements. Earlier this month, both Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana visited the country on a first-of-its-kind official visit, as did Transportation Minister Miri Regev.
